Malaysian Rubber Market Aims Higher on Strong Demand
The Malaysian rubber market is expected to trade higher next week due to strong demand and concerns over supply constraints. The Malaysian Rubber Glove Manufacturers Association (Margma) reports that China has pledged additional fiscal policy measures to support economic growth, leading to increased demand for premium and sustainably sourced natural rubber.
Demand from Malaysia's glove manufacturers is also on the rise as they prioritize traceability and sustainability under the European Union Deforestation Regulation requirements. Industry expert Denis Low notes that potential restocking demand from China and firmer crude oil prices could drive prices up.
However, supply and demand remain relatively balanced, with foreign exchange volatility and adverse weather in major producing regions potentially influencing prices. The Malaysian Rubber Board's reference price for Standard Malaysian Rubber 20 has increased by 38 sen to 947.0 sen per kilogramme, while latex in bulk decreased nine sen to 679.5 sen per kilogramme.
