BPCL Seeks ₹633 Cr Monthly Compensation Amid Rising Oil Prices
The Indian government has promised to compensate Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL) for its losses from selling domestic Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) below market prices.
As of June 30, 2026, BPCL's LPG compensation buffer stood at ₹15,804 crore, including an adjustment of ₹7,594 crore.
The company expects to receive ₹633 crore per month from the Central Government as compensation for under-recoveries on domestic LPG sales till October.
This comes amidst rising global crude oil prices and geopolitical tensions in West Asia, which have pushed up international energy prices and widened the gap between market and subsidized retail selling prices.
The government has informed the Lok Sabha that state-owned oil marketing companies remain under considerable financial pressure due to elevated crude oil prices and sustained LPG under-recoveries driven by geopolitical uncertainties.
