Brazilian Technical Corn Oil Exports Surge as Europe Drives Demand
The Brazilian export market for technical corn oil (TCO) has been gaining momentum over the past few months, with prices rising in July alongside strengthened European demand.
Fastmarkets launched its price assessments for Brazilian TCO in the domestic and export markets on September 11. Data from customs showed that Brazil's TCO exports totaled 42,468 tonnes in August, up by 28.8% from July and a whopping 165% from August 2025.
The increasing demand has led to a narrowing of price gaps between larger and smaller suppliers as market participants said domestic buyers are increasingly unable to compete with export demand. Export-linked bids on an FOB Mato Grosso basis were reported around 300 Reais per tonne higher than those posted by the animal nutrition sector.
Market participants expect this trend to continue as the market becomes more structured, with smaller suppliers exploring export opportunities and testing the market. Domestic buyers are adjusting their expectations to the premiums available for TCO that meets the requirements of the European renewable-fuels market, including International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC).
