Oil traders are increasingly betting on a decline in Brent crude prices, as evidenced by the surge in put option bets to unprecedented levels.

Preliminary data from the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) Futures Europe shows that trading volume for Brent crude oil put options reached approximately 764,000 contracts on Tuesday, setting a historical record.

The majority of these trades were concentrated in narrow put spreads, which are sometimes used to hedge over-the-counter binary option positions.

Saudi Arabia is currently seeking to restore oil flows through a key pipeline, while diplomatic efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz have made some progress, contributing to the shift in market sentiment.
