Oil prices remained steady on September 24 despite Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian's defiant remarks at the United Nations. The comments underscored the ongoing tension between Washington and Tehran regarding potential negotiations.

Brent crude held above $102 a barrel, having climbed almost 4% on Wednesday after news of a possible deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if Washington eased military pressure.

However, Pezeshkian's remarks at the UN indicated that Iran would not bow to threats and set out several conditions before substantive talks could take place. This development dampened hopes for a quick resolution to the conflict.
