Oil prices surged again in global markets on Tuesday due to heightened concerns over a prolonged conflict in the Middle East.

Iran warned that it would retaliate against any new US attacks, adding fuel to the fire of escalating tensions in the region.

Brent crude futures rose by 34 cents, or 0.35%, to reach $97.34 per barrel at the start of trading.

US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude gained $1.15, or 1.26%, to $92.63 per barrel.
