Brent Holds Above $102 Amid Stalled Iran Talks
Oil prices have stabilized at around $102 per barrel for Brent crude after a brief dip amid reports of possible peace talks between Iran and the US. The current price is above $100, which was reached earlier in the week due to increased oil flows via the Strait of Hormuz.
The recent development came as UN General Assembly meetings saw President Trump threatening Iran with 'annihilation', while also stating that peace talks were progressing 'very productively'. However, Iran's president, Masou Pezeshkian, emphasized that his country would not respond well to force and would not 'bow to pressure.'
The key issue remains the conditions set by Iran for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which include lifting the naval blockade on Iranian ports and unfreezing Iranian assets. The US has not explicitly rejected these demands but has yet to indicate willingness to comply.
