The price of Brent North Sea crude oil has dropped below $100 per barrel on Monday, September 21, 2026, amidst hopes for diplomatic progress in ending the US-Iran war.

Brent tumbled 4.0 percent to $99.69, while the main US contract, West Texas Intermediate, slumped 5.0 percent to $95.22 per barrel.

The price drop comes ahead of this week's United Nations gathering in New York, where US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian are set to attend.
