The price of Brent North Sea oil plummeted by more than five percent on Friday to $95.61 a barrel, following a surge above $100 on Thursday.

This drop was attributed to traders reassessing the impact of fresh Middle East attacks on global crude supplies.

Chris Beauchamp, chief market analyst at trading platform IG, noted that oil prices 'finally ran into some profit-taking' after advancing all week.
