British Columbia Greenlights $2 Billion LNG Expansion at Tilbury Facility
The province of British Columbia is moving forward with FortisBC's $2 billion expansion of its Tilbury liquefied natural gas facility in Delta, aiming to boost marine fuel supply and lower-emission shipping.
The measure also creates a framework for the Musqueam Indian Band to pursue an equity stake in the project as part of the province's Look West investment strategy.
The Tilbury Phase 1B expansion will increase LNG output to serve growing marine shipping demand at the Port of Vancouver and support lower-emission fuel adoption. Construction of Phase 1B could start by mid-2027, generating over $800 million GDP, 1,100 annual jobs, $260 million tax revenue, and $15-20 million natural gas royalties yearly.
