The Bulgarian Energy and Water Regulatory Commission has approved a 5.5% increase in natural gas prices for September, setting the price at 41.60 euros per megawatt-hour.

This means that Bulgargaz will sell natural gas to end suppliers and companies licensed to produce and transmit heat energy at this rate, excluding access, transmission, excise duty, and VAT.

The regulator emphasized that despite the monthly increase, Bulgaria's price remains more than 30% below current futures prices on international gas exchanges. Bulgarian consumers will pay nearly 25 euros per megawatt-hour less than the international market price, currently trading at around 66.98 to 68.92 euros per megawatt-hour.

The approved price reflects a mix of different sources, including quantities supplied under Bulgaria's long-term natural gas contract with Azerbaijan and liquefied natural gas secured through contracts with traders following an organized auction.
