Buyers of Bangladeshi garments are growing increasingly concerned about the country's ongoing gas shortage, which has affected production and shipment schedules. Representatives from international brands met with the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) in Dhaka to discuss the crisis.

The BGMEA assured buyers that industrial gas supplies would improve after August 8, returning to normal by around August 14. The association attributed the improvement to the repair of a floating storage and regasification unit expected to be completed by August 6-7.

Buyers sought clarification on the government's long-term strategy for ensuring energy security, including plans to establish a land-based liquefied natural gas storage facility within the next 18-24 months. They also requested regular updates on progress in restoring gas supply.
