Cabinet Hikes Wheat MSP by ₹25 per Quintal to ₹2,610
The Union Cabinet has approved a hike in the minimum support price (MSP) of wheat for the 2027-28 rabi marketing year. The MSP will be increased by ₹25 per quintal, taking it to ₹2,610 per quintal. This decision was made at the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The production cost of wheat is ₹1,264 per quintal, but the MSP has been kept more than double at ₹2,610 per quintal for 2027-28. The increase in MSP is expected to benefit farmers, especially those who produce wheat as their main rabi crop.
Barley MSP has also been increased to ₹2,286 per quintal for the 2027-28 rabi marketing year from ₹2,150 per quintal in 2026-27. The support price of gram has been increased by ₹83 to ₹5,958 per quintal from ₹5,875 per quintal.
