CAC 40 Climbs as US-Iran Tensions Ease, Oil Prices Retreat
The CAC 40 index rose 0.4% to close at 8,406 on Monday as US-Iran hostilities paused over the weekend, causing oil prices to fall.
Crude prices dropped after both countries halted strikes amid renewed diplomatic efforts, with President Donald Trump reportedly open to restarting peace talks.
The decline in oil prices eased energy-driven inflation concerns, supporting the broader market. Financials led the gains, with BNP Paribas up 2.1% and AXA adding 1.2%.
Luxury stocks also advanced amid lower risk aversion ahead of upcoming earnings, with LVMH up 0.9%, L'Oréal gaining 0.7%, Hermès rising 1.7%, and Kering adding 1.3%.
