The University of California Ag and Natural Resources Connect event brought together nearly 300 stakeholders to discuss growers' pain points and potential solutions.
The event featured demonstrations of smart weeders and thinners, autonomous bird hazers, and an autonomous lettuce harvester at Sabór Farms'. This type of technology aims to address common issues faced by farmers, such as efficient resource management and reduced labor costs.
Meanwhile, China has continued its purchases of U.S. soybeans, with recent reports indicating that about 1 million metric tons were bought last week. This is part of a larger agreement between the two countries, with Beijing committing to purchase nearly 25 million metric tons annually through 2028.
Wheat futures have been volatile due to ongoing disruptions in Black Sea grain exports and diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The most-active contract has traded around $7.39 a bushel after reaching a 3½-year high of $7.95 last week.
