California Gas Prices Soar Amid Global Oil Supply Concerns
California's gas prices are on the rise again this summer, driven by tensions between the US and Iran in their ongoing conflict.
Fuel experts attribute the spike to concerns about global oil supplies, which have been further exacerbated by renewed fighting near the Strait of Hormuz. This has pushed crude oil prices into the $90 per barrel range.
California drivers are already paying the nation's highest gas prices, and the state's structural 'premium', created by taxes and environmental regulations, means every new disruption hits them harder.
The counties with the highest gas prices include Mono at $6.83 per gallon of regular gas, Inyo at $6.14, Sierra at $6.10, San Luis Obispo at $5.92, and Humboldt at $5.90. The cheapest counties are Sutter at $5.30, Tehama at $5.38, Yuba at $5.38, and Butte at $5.45.
