Canada Approves Pacific Link Pipeline Project
The Canadian government has officially designated Pacific Link as a project of national interest under the Building Canada Act, marking a significant milestone for Alberta's and Canada's energy future.
Premier Smith emphasized that this listing sends a clear message: Canada is ready to build again, harness its strengths, seize new opportunities, and deliver nation-building infrastructure. The benefits of Pacific Link are clear, with the potential to create up to 140,000 jobs during construction and support an additional 50,000 jobs per year in operations.
The project will move one million barrels of oil per day to Canada's west coast, expanding access to growing markets across the Asia-Pacific region. The Government of Alberta, through the Alberta Petroleum Marketing Corporation, is working with the Government of Canada and Pembina Pipeline Corporation to advance Pacific Link.
Indigenous partnership remains central to this project every step of the way, with an opportunity to create lasting prosperity through meaningful participation, ownership, and shared success. The listing also demonstrates what is possible when governments work together in the national interest, reflecting a renewed spirit of cooperation focused on creating jobs across Canada.
