Canada Backs New Alberta-to-West Coast Oil Pipeline Project
Ottawa has given its backing to a new Alberta-to-West Coast oil pipeline project. The Pacific Link pipeline, as it's called, aims to transport up to 1.3 million barrels of crude oil per day from Alberta to refineries on the West Coast.
The federal government's support comes as Canada-U.S. trade talks are ongoing. According to U.S. Trade Rep. Greer, a handful of 'difficult to resolve' issues remain in these negotiations.
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith hailed the pipeline announcement as a 'big moment of Canadian leadership and unity'. She also claimed that Alberta taxpayers will benefit from the project.
