Canada Courts Europe for Liquefied Natural Gas Trade Amid Energy Concerns
Canada's foreign minister has expressed interest in expanding the country's energy trade with Europe. The Canadian government is looking to strengthen its relationships with European countries, particularly when it comes to liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The conflict in the Middle East has disrupted maritime shipping and limited the availability of crude oil and natural gas, making European energy security a concern.
Canada's Prince Rupert Kanata floating LNG facility is one of several grassroots projects being developed in the country. The facility would have a peak design capacity of 12 million metric tons per year if built.
Last year, Canada became the first North American country to ship super-cooled gas from its Pacific Coast when LNG Canada made its inaugural delivery.
