Canada Eyes Energy Partnership with France Amid European Supply Disruptions

Canada's Foreign Minister Anita Anand has expressed interest in pursuing an energy partnership with France involving liquefied natural gas from Canada's Pacific coast. This announcement comes after leaders of both countries met and discussed energy cooperation.

Anand emphasized that it is 'quite conceivable' for Canada to execute such a partnership, citing the country's ability to export LNG from its west coast. The recent construction of the LNG Canada facility in British Columbia has made this possible.

Canada has shipped its first-ever liquefied natural gas export cargo in June, and Anand noted that discussions on energy partnerships are taking place with countries around the world, including Germany, which finalized a 20-year LNG purchase deal with Canada at the end of July.
