Canada, France Strengthen Energy Ties Amid Diversification Efforts

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney met with French President Emmanuel Macron in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon to strengthen energy cooperation between their countries.

The meeting focused on energy supply, which Macron described as a 'sensitive' issue. He highlighted the importance of Canadian liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects for Europe, stating that they are 'important for our Europe.'

The Canadian government has been diversifying its energy partnerships, aiming to reduce dependence on Russia. This effort includes seven LNG export projects and one associated infrastructure project in Canada, with a combined potential capacity of 50.3 million tonnes per year.
