Canada Lists Pacific Link Pipeline as National Interest Project
Canada has listed the new West Coast Oil Pipeline, known as Pacific Link, as a project of national interest to reduce its dependence on the US market.
Prime Minister Mark Carney stated that 90% of Alberta's oil currently goes to the US and that Pacific Link will allow Canada to export an additional 1 million barrels a day to growing markets in Asia.
This, according to Carney, means more customers, choice, and higher prices for Canadian energy producers, as well as greater long-term security of demand.
