A major deal was signed between Ksi Lisims LNG and Uniper SE to supply two million tonnes of Canadian liquefied natural gas (LNG) per year for up to 20 years. The agreement, which is a binding contract, will see first deliveries begin in 2032 and benefit customers in Germany, the United Kingdom, Sweden, and the Netherlands.

The deal marks an important step forward for Canada's trade diversification agenda, which aims to broaden the country's customer base and increase its economic and job stability. The agreement also supports the federal government's plan to reduce reliance on a single market, as less than 0.01 percent of Canada's natural gas exports went to non-U.S. markets in 2024.

Ksi Lisims LNG is a $30-billion project that will be Canada's second-largest LNG facility and one of the world's lowest-emission operations, with emissions 94 percent below the global average.
