Canada Vows to Keep Oil Flowing Amid US Trade Tensions
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has reaffirmed his country's commitment to remaining a reliable oil supplier to the United States, despite ongoing trade tensions between the two nations. Speaking in Alberta, Canada's oil heartland, Carney rejected the idea of using export taxes or curbs on key commodities such as oil and potash as a means of retaliating against US tariffs.
'Being a reliable supplier is important,' Carney said, emphasizing that Canada is known for its trustworthiness. 'People trust us.'
The Canadian government had previously explored the possibility of using export taxes on key commodities in response to President Donald Trump's trade policy, but Carney made it clear that this option was no longer on the table.
