Canada's Wheat Exports Reach Record Pace Amid Crop Quality Concerns

Canada's wheat export pace has reached an all-time high at the start of the new season, according to data from the Canadian Grain Commission. In just six weeks, the country shipped around 3.1 million tons of wheat, a staggering 68% increase from the same period last year. This surge in exports is partly due to the record 40.6 million-ton wheat harvest in 2025.

However, not all is well with Canada's new crop. Statistics Canada forecasts production to fall by 11%, reaching only 36.1 million tons. The quality of this crop has been compromised by heavy rains during harvest, potentially affecting feed wheat supplies and prices.

The impact on Canadian exports may be significant, as feed wheat supplies could rise to 6-7 million tons compared to the usual 3.5 million tons in domestic demand. This could pressure lower-quality wheat prices while widening premiums for high-protein wheat.
