Canadian Natural Gas Prices Remain Steeply Discounted to US Benchmark
Western Canadian forward natural gas prices continue to trade at a steep discount to the US benchmark Henry Hub, even as demand drivers are on the horizon.
The price difference between Western Canada and the US is significant, with the region's natural gas prices remaining below $2.50 per million British thermal units (MMBtu) compared to Henry Hub's price of around $4.00 MMBtu.
Looking ahead to winter, it appears that Canadian consumers may benefit from stable natural gas prices due to the structural demand drivers on the horizon.
The AECO winter discount remains intact, with LNG Canada trimming storage injections and Sumas' winter premium widening.
