Canadian Oil Gains Direct Access to Global Markets Through New Houston Terminal
The Enbridge Houston Oil Terminal (EHOT) has opened in July, marking a significant milestone for Canadian oil producers. This new terminal represents the final link in Enbridge's integrated transportation network connecting northern Alberta's oil sands production directly to the Houston region.
According to Grady Semmens' article on the Canadian Energy Centre, EHOT gives Enbridge's liquids pipelines business 'a true Houston footprint'. It ties their system from Edmonton all the way to the U.S. Gulf Coast.
The terminal is part of a 'wave of development' across North America, as described by Enbridge CEO Greg Ebel. The energy industry has re-entered a growth phase, with producers' confidence improving and a supportive policy environment.
