Canola Futures Dip as Vegetable Oil Complex Weakens Amid Crude Price Surge

Canola futures on the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) dropped despite rising crude oil prices. The weakness in the vegetable oil complex follows Iran's attack on US military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain, which has no end in sight. Crude oil saw a significant increase of over $1 per barrel this morning.

The Chicago soyoil market nearly lost one U.S. cent per pound, while European rapeseed and Malaysian palm oil were also down. This dip in the vegetable oil complex contrasts with the upward trend in crude oil prices.

In related news, a heat warning was issued for southeastern Alberta and southwestern Saskatchewan on Friday morning. Meanwhile, northern parts of these provinces will see rain and moderate temperatures, while daytime highs will hover around 30 degrees Celsius in the southern half of the Prairies.
