Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) canola futures ended Friday's session steady to higher, reversing earlier losses. This positive turn came after a statement from US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer that there would be an announcement on trade talks between President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday.

The Chicago soybeans and soyoil markets also turned around today, with canola exports for the week ended September 20 improving to 43,300 tonnes from virtually zero. The year-to-date rose to 752,900 tonnes compared to 627,400 a year ago.

Despite this positive news, sharp declines in crude oil continued to pressure the vegetable oils, limiting gains at the Chicago Board of Trade. European rapeseed closed mixed and Malaysian palm oil was weaker.
