Caramuru Alimentos is expanding its presence in Goiás by investing R$100 million in a new warehouse and equipment for its sunflower processing plant. The investment will increase production capacity from 100,000 to 125,000 tonnes of sunflower oil and derivatives per year.

The company's CEO, Marcus Thieme, stated that Caramuru is the driving force behind sunflower cultivation in Goiás, purchasing around 50,000 tonnes of sunflowers this year from 55,700 hectares. This accounts for 88% of the total area planted with sunflowers in the state.

Caramuru aims to expand its share of Brazil's retail sunflower oil market by capturing a share closer to 50% through the Sinhá brand. The company expects to produce around 30,000 tonnes of sunflower oil in 2026 and is planning for an even larger project, a corn ethanol plant in Mato Grosso.
