Carnavale Resources Seeks to Unlock Kookynie Gold Project's Potential in Elevated Market
The gold market remains strong despite retreating from record levels in January 2026. US gold futures settled at around $4,366 an ounce on August 18, while the World Gold Council reported that the LBMA PM price averaged $4,506.29 an ounce during the June quarter, a 37% increase over the same period last year.
Carnavale Resources Ltd is one of the Australian developers and explorers well-positioned to capitalize on this market. The company operates the Kookynie Gold Project in Western Australia's Eastern Goldfields, one of the country's most established gold-producing regions.
With a high-grade resource of 855,000 tonnes at 4.4 g/t gold for 120,000 ounces, Carnavale is advancing the project with a strategy that involves open-pit mining and contract miners, followed by transition to underground mining through a portal at the base of the Swiftsure pit.
The proposed development would reduce initial capital requirements and shorten development timelines. The company has identified seven possible processing destinations within about 200 kilometres of the project, including facilities around Leonora, Laverton, Davyhurst, Paddington, and Kalgoorlie.
