Caturus Doubles LNG Capacity with Louisiana Expansion

Caturus is expanding its Commonwealth LNG plant in Louisiana to meet growing demand for liquefied natural gas. The company will add five new liquefaction trains, increasing the total capacity from 9.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) to 17.25 mtpa.

The expansion project will cost $13 billion and is expected to be completed by the early 2030s. Operations are set to begin in 2030 for the initial phase, which has a total allocated budget of $9.75 billion. The company's growth plan includes doubling its export capacity at the Commonwealth LNG plant.

The company will use modular construction methodology and consolidated supply chain management to execute the expansion project efficiently. Caturus has partnered with major contractors such as Technip Energies, Baker Hughes, Honeywell, and Solar Turbines for this project. The terminal will be able to manage the berthing and loading of LNG carriers with a volume of up to 216,000 cubic meters.
