CBOT Grains Futures Decline on Thursday Amid Slow Shipments
Grains futures declined on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) on Thursday, September 17. Wheat and corn prices fell, while soybean prices remained relatively stable.
December wheat futures dropped by 0.51% to $267.12 per ton, while corn prices declined by 0.70% to $208.86 per ton. November soybeans corrected by a mere 0.06% to $484.92 per ton.
The decline in wheat prices comes despite slow shipments from the Black Sea region. SovEcon estimates combined wheat exports from Russia and Ukraine in July-September 2026 at around 8 million tons, compared with 16.4 million tons a year earlier. US wheat export sales for the week ended September 10 totaled 325.9 thousand tons.
Corn prices also continued to fall, but US export sales remained active. Weekly sales reached 1.027 million tons, including 626 thousand tons to Mexico and 150.2 thousand tons to Japan. South Korean importers purchased 260 thousand tons of corn in a tender with an undisclosed origin.
