CBOT Soybeans, Grains Plunge Amid US-China Tariff Deal
Soybean futures at the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) fell on Monday due to speculative long liquidation, weighing on prices.
The decline was partly attributed to a proposed deal between the US and China that excluded soybeans from lower tariffs on agricultural goods. Soybeans are the largest US export to China, which could have a significant impact on demand.
Corn futures also dropped due to the broader selloff, taking direction from soybeans and wheat. Although corn was included in the list of commodities facing reduced Chinese tariffs, it's not expected that the country will increase purchases of the grain.
