Central Banks Fuel Gold Demand Amid Inflation Concerns
Gold prices have rebounded above $4,300 an ounce, but the metal's support lies in central banks' reserve ledgers and their stated intentions to add gold.
During the second quarter of 2026, monetary authorities around the globe added 288.9 tonnes of gold to their vaults, a 62.4% jump from the same period a year earlier.
Poland led the charge with 51 tonnes, while China picked up 33 tonnes.
A World Gold Council survey found that 45% of respondents plan to add gold over the next twelve months, the highest share since the survey began in 2018.
