CFTC Seeks Input on Allowing Energy Perpetual Contracts
The Hyperliquid Policy Center and trade[XYZ] have filed a joint comment letter with the CFTC, requesting permission to allow energy perpetual contracts in U.S. markets.
The filing, submitted on August 26, urges the CFTC to adopt a technology-neutral framework that lets exchanges and clearinghouses operate around the clock and accept stablecoins and tokenized collateral for margin.
This move is aimed at supporting continuous hedging and accelerating crypto adoption across DeFi, CEX, and DEX markets.
The trade[XYZ] has reported over $500 billion in cumulative volume since launching its WTI, Brent, and Henry Hub natural gas perpetuals on the Hyperliquid platform in October 2025.
