Gold and Silver Rally Again as Investors Regret Missing the Boat
Investors who missed the rally in gold and silver are now regretting their decisions. A Royal Mint survey found that one-third of British adults wish they had invested in gold over the past five years, while another 30% regret not buying into the rise in silver.
The survey revealed that despite those gains, only 8% of UK adults held any savings in gold, and just 3% owned silver. This reluctance is common among Western investors, as demand from China, India, and other Asian markets helped propel the gold bull market while many Western investors remained on the sidelines.
The deeper threat to traditional currencies is monetary debasement, according to Mike Maharrey, host of Money Metals Midweek Memo. Governments benefit from creating and spending additional currency, even though the resulting inflation gradually erodes the public's purchasing power.
