Cheniere Energy Sees LNG Demand Surge Amid Trump-Era Export Permit Uptick
Cheniere Energy's second-quarter profits have surged due to increased demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG). The US-based company has seen a significant rise in LNG exports, with shipments reaching 15 billion cubic feet per day in 2025, up 26% from the previous year. This growth can be attributed to the lifting of the moratorium on new LNG export permits by President Donald Trump.
The increased demand for LNG has led to a substantial increase in revenue for Cheniere Energy. The company's LNG revenue reached $5.64 billion in the second quarter, compared to $4.52 billion in the same period last year. Regasification revenues remained flat at $34 million during this time.
The Houston-based company reported a net income of $3.07 billion for the quarter ended June 30, which is significantly higher than the previous year's $1.63 billion. This financial performance has led to a positive market response, with Cheniere Energy shares rising by 2% in premarket trading.
