Cheniere Hits 5,000th LNG Cargo Milestone with Record-Breaking Speed
Cheniere Energy, Inc., a leading LNG producer, has achieved two significant milestones. The company has completed the Corpus Christi Liquefaction Stage 3 Project (CCL Stage 3) in Texas and exported its 5,000th cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG). This achievement marks Cheniere's faster-than-expected growth, with the company surpassing other LNG producers worldwide.
The CCL Stage 3 project expanded Cheniere's LNG production capacity by over 20%, to approximately 56 million tonnes per annum. The project, which was initiated in June 2022, achieved substantial completion on August 28, when Bechtel Energy, the engineering, procurement and construction contractor, turned over care, custody and control of the seventh and last train of CCL Stage 3 to Cheniere.
Cheniere's 5,000th LNG cargo was loaded onto the Yari LNG carrier, which departed Sabine Pass on August 29 en route to Asia. Since producing its first LNG cargo in 2016, Cheniere has supplied over 340 million tonnes of LNG to markets worldwide, representing over 10% of total global LNG capacity.
