Chennai Gold Price Drops Rs 400 as Silver Remains Unchanged

The price of gold in Chennai has dropped significantly, decreasing by Rs 400 per sovereign on August 4. The current price stands at Rs 1,05,600 per sovereign and Rs 13,200 per gram, down from Rs 50 per gram compared to the previous day.

On the other hand, silver prices have remained unchanged, selling for Rs 235 per gram (Rs 2,35,000 per kg) on August 4. This is consistent with yesterday's price of Rs 235 per gram.

In comparison to last year, gold prices have surged by a significant margin. On August 4, 2025, the price was Rs 74,360 per sovereign (Rs 9,295 per gram), whereas on August 4, 2026, it has increased to Rs 1,05,600 per sovereign (Rs 13,200 per gram), marking a rise of Rs 31,240 or approximately 42.01%.
