Chennai Gold Price Surges by Rs 200 on September 16

Chennai's gold prices saw an increase of Rs 200 per sovereign on September 16, 2026. The new price for a sovereign is now at Rs 1,12,520 and Rs 14,065 per gram.

The price hike means that the yellow metal has seen a significant rise compared to last year. On September 16, 2025, gold was priced at Rs 82,240 per sovereign (Rs 10,280 per gram). This marks an increase of Rs 30,280 per sovereign or about 36.81%.

Silver prices remained unchanged at Rs 250 per gram (Rs 2,50,000 per kg) on September 16. The price has been consistent over the last five days.
