Gold prices in Chennai saw a slight increase on August 12, with all three purity categories - 24K, 22K, and 18K - recording a ₹1 per gram rise. This brings the 24K gold rate to ₹15,438 per gram, up from ₹15,437 per gram the previous day.

The move follows a stronger rise on August 11, when 24K gold jumped ₹219 per gram. The recent trend shows that prices have moved significantly higher from earlier levels in August.

For buyers looking at gold jewellery, the increased base price may impact their purchasing decisions. With the current Chennai rates, 10 grams of 24K gold would cost ₹1,54,380, while 22K gold would be priced at ₹1,41,510 for the same quantity.
