Chennai Gold Prices Plummet by Rs 1800 on September 2

Chennai's gold prices took a significant hit on September 2, dropping by Rs 1,800 per sovereign. The current price stands at Rs 1,11,600 per sovereign and Rs 13,950 per gram.

This decrease follows the previous day's rate of Rs 1,15,080 per sovereign and Rs 14,385 per gram. In contrast, silver prices fell by a smaller margin, now selling for Rs 250 per gram (Rs 2,50,000 per kg) down from Rs 255 per gram on September 1.

The year-over-year comparison shows gold prices significantly higher than in 2025, with an increase of Rs 33,800 per sovereign or about 43.44% since September 2, 2025.
