Chennai Gold Prices Plummet on September 28
The gold prices in Chennai saw a sharp decline on September 28, 2026, according to the latest MJDTA rate update. Both 22K and 18K gold prices fell by ₹235 per gram, while the silver rate declined by ₹5 per gram.
Currently, the 22K gold rate in Chennai is ₹13,765 per gram, down from the previous rate of ₹14,000 per gram. For 8 grams (1 sovereign), the gold value is ₹1,10,120, excluding GST, making charges, wastage and other jewellery-related charges.
The 18K gold rate also decreased by ₹235 per gram, with a current price of ₹11,535 per gram. For 8 grams, the gold value works out to ₹92,280, before applicable taxes and other charges.
