Chennai's gold prices continued their upward trend on August 6, 2026, according to the Madras Jewellers & Diamond Traders Association (MJDTA). Both 22-carat and 18-carat gold saw a ₹270 per gram increase, while silver prices rose by ₹10 per gram.

The 22K gold rate increased from ₹13,480 to ₹13,750 per gram, while the 18K gold price rose from ₹11,295 to ₹11,565 per gram. The silver rate in Chennai also saw a gain of ₹10, increasing from ₹240 to ₹250 per gram.

Gold prices have been on an upward momentum recently, with both 22K and 18K gold registering a significant rise. This is attributed to global bullion market trends, fluctuations in the US dollar exchange rate, and sustained domestic demand for precious metals.
