China Boosts Russian Energy Imports Amid Sanctions

Russia's energy exports to China continued to grow in the first eight months of this year, despite ongoing economic sanctions. According to data from the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China, Russia increased its liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies to China by 28.2% year-on-year, reaching 5.15 million tons.

In monetary terms, LNG supplies from Russia grew by 13.2%, to $2.66 billion. This puts Russia in third place among LNG suppliers to China, behind Australia and Malaysia.

Russia's oil exports to China also increased, rising by 18.1% in January-August, reaching 77.65 million tons. In monetary terms, imports grew by 33.3%, to $44.84 billion. Russia remains the largest oil exporter to China, with Saudi Arabia in second place and Brazil in third.
