China Bypasses US Sanctions on Iran Through Financial Workarounds
China has been able to bypass US sanctions on Iran by using financial workarounds and structural advantages.
The country has purchased as much as 90% of Iran's oil exports since the war began in late February, keeping the Iranian economy afloat.
Chinese state-owned giants like Sinopec and PetroChina have avoided Iranian oil due to sanctions risk, leaving that trade to smaller, harder-to-target buyers known as 'dark fleets' and 'teapot' refineries.
