China Cuts Aid to Iran as US Tightens Economic Grip
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced on Sunday that China has significantly reduced its aid to Iran over the past few days. This development comes as Washington intensifies economic pressure on Tehran and works to curb Iranian oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz.
Besent noted that Iran might deliver its final oil shipments to China within two weeks, with approximately 15 million barrels remaining aboard tankers. The US Treasury Secretary stated that Washington is preventing the outflow of additional Iranian oil, which he said constitutes a form of economic pressure on the country.
While the United States has allowed over a billion barrels of oil to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, it has not permitted a single barrel of Iranian oil to be exported. Bessent explained that this is part of an ongoing US campaign aimed at curtailing Tehran's access to the financial system and international markets.
