China Eyes Rollback of Tariffs on American LNG Exports

A major energy pact between the US and China is reportedly in the works, which could lead to China rolling back tariffs on American liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The discussions are part of broader efforts to stabilize trade ties ahead of a September 24 meeting between Presidents Trump and Xi Jinping.

According to two people briefed on the talks, the potential relief on US LNG exports is being discussed alongside a framework that would see both countries cut tariffs on about $30 billion worth of goods.

This development comes as American LNG producers seek new markets for their expanding export capacity, with years of trade tensions having made China one of the world's largest LNG importers less accessible.
