China's Copper Cathode Production Falls Short in July

China's copper cathode production declined more than expected in July, falling to 1.1268 million mt, down 1.59% from June.

This was due to difficulties in procuring scrap-derived copper anodes and concentrated maintenance at smelters.

The cumulative production from January to July reached 8.148 million mt, up 4.9% YoY, but July's production fell short of the expected 1.166 million mt by 39,200 mt.

Copper prices have been elevated recently, but secondary copper shipments remain inactive due to policies and procurement difficulties.
